Blame it on the BOOGIE!

It's a fair cop: Village People policeman blames "disco"

Victor Willis, the "cop" in Village People, was on the run from the law in California. Well, Victor was caught and has gone up against the beak.
Victor pleaded no contest to charges of possessing cocaine, crack and a loaded gun when stopped by traffic police. And for giving the police a false name and then going on the run for six months. He faces either a spell in rehab or two years in jail when he's sentenced on 1st September.

The cop says he's now sober, for the first time in 25 years, and blames everything on "the excesses of the disco era that many artists like me found difficult to shake almost 30 years later." Still, it's not all bad. Victor's got a book deal and plans to tour as the cop next summer, if he's not in the big house getting bummed in the showers.

Paris tops Madonna; Lily Smiles her way to no.1

Paris Hilton is no.3 on the Canadian singles charts - topping Madonna's 'Get Together' which debuted at no.5 Of course singles charts in Canada mean very little ... I personally prefer Paris' song to "Get Together'.

Lily Allen, the Queen of the MySpace Scene recently topped the U.K. charts with her debut single 'Smile'. Her album is fab and is being released in the U.K. next week.
Canadian Nelly Furtado has somehow managed to shift her hideous new single 'Promiscuous Girl' to the no.1 spot in the U.S., no.4 in the U.K, (down from no.2) and no.4 in Australia. Although she hasn't charted in the Canadian singles charts with 'Promiscuous' - her album 'Loose' debuted at no.1 in Canada two weeks ago. There's no accounting for tastes I guess.

10-year-old Spice Rack

The Spice Girls released their first single 'Wannabe' 10 years ago on 8 July 1996. There are rumours (and have been for the past 2-3 years) of a possible reunion performance. We'll see. Until then, I present this:
