Best song lyric ...

Oh for crissake! I guess you have to be male, 30-something, white and hetero in order to vote in these kind of things. Where's 'I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want!'?

LONDON—The Irish band U2 has given Britain its favourite song lyric, according to a survey released today by music channel VH1. The line "One life, with each other, sisters, brothers" from the song "One" topped the poll.

Runner-up was the downbeat "So you go and you stand on your own, and you leave on your own, and you go home, and you cry, and you want to die" from The Smiths' "How Soon is Now.''

A line from Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" — "I feel stupid and contagious, here we are now, entertain us" — came third. Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" and Coldplay's "Yellow'' came fourth and fifth.

More than 13,000 people chose from 100 lyrics on the station's website, selected by music industry figures.
